The Federal Bureau of Investigation claims that the Democratic National Committee “rebuffed” their requests to examine servers that were allegedly hacked by Russians. The FBI’s bombshell claim comes after the DNC claims that they were never asked by the FBI for access to their servers.
“The FBI repeatedly stressed to DNC officials the necessity of obtaining direct access to servers and data, only to be rebuffed until well after the initial compromise had been mitigated,” a senior law enforcement official told CNN. “This left the FBI no choice but to rely upon a third party for information. These actions caused significant delays and inhibited the FBI from addressing the intrusion earlier.”
Earlier this week BuzzFeed reported that the FBI never inspected the DNC servers in question and instead relied upon analysis of a third-party security firm CrowdStrike.
