Democratic establishment seeks to boot Bernie Sanders in 2018

While the Democratic Party attempts to rebuild and unite, bitter Hillary Clinton supporters are plotting the political destruction of Sen. Bernie Sanders, who remains a threat to their influence. Clinton’s allies have been working nonstop to unseat Sanders and diminish his relevance among the millennial voting bloc.

Sanders, who won 71 percent of the vote in his 2012 re-election campaign for Senate and 86 percent of the vote in Vermont during the 2016 presidential primaries, is considered a major threat to the Democratic establishment.

Leading the charge is Vermont resident and avid Clinton supporter Jon Svitavsky, a homeless shelter director, who announced on July 5 that he will be challenging Sanders in 2018.

Svitavsky and his supporters feel that Sanders is bad news for the Democratic Party, and they will stop at nothing to end his career.

“I think Sanders has hurt our country very badly with what he’s done,” Svitavsky told NPR. “So not only did Bernie divide the Democratic Party and what not, but he continues to bash them, even on the unity tour, saying that Democrats and Republicans are the same, and they’re not.”

While Sanders has remained a critic of the DNC, he didn’t bash Democrats during the DNC unity tour and one would be hard pressed to find such a comparison quote from the socialist.

Democrats want to stay establishment. Period.

Look, I don’t like Bernie. I don’t want to see this country become a socialist nation, I don’t think it is good for anyone, especially the USA. But the bottom line is… Bernie did challenge the status quo. He offered the left something different than the same old thing, while continuing to offer them an old white man, something they rail against while still fully demanding.

Donald Trump offered the same on the right, but was, obviously, more successful at it. Both Donald and Bernie offered the American people a taste of actual change. People looked at both of them and saw that there was an option other than voting for the same candidate with a different name. Something we all complain about at every election. “There’s no one to vote for.” “Same sh–, different election.”

But both Donald and Bernie offered the people someone they could relate to. Donald is a businessman. He grew his empire. Yes, he was wealthy, but he worked. He didn’t spend his entire life being groomed for politics the way Hillary Clinton was. Everything about Hillary’s life was her being groomed for president. She married Bill for power. She stayed with him through the affairs for the same. They had one child to show the family values that were so important at one time, and now that child is being groomed for politics, too. Donald was out getting married and divorced, having kids, running businesses, etc. That is more relatable.

Bernie was out protesting. He was being dragged off by the police and there was photographic evidence. The people who support him are doing the same thing and can relate to that. He, again, wasn’t being groomed. He offered something different, something they saw as relatable. And when he stood up to talk, he wasn’t promising the same things they’d heard a million times with different wording. He was offering something they wanted, something they saw as attainable (even if the rest of us didn’t see it as attainable or affordable). And he at least appeared to believe in what he was saying instead of saying what he thought his base wanted to hear. I’m not saying Bernie was honest, and I’m not saying he wasn’t out for himself, because he clearly is (what’s he up to now, three homes? While preaching about income inequality). But he was believable and different.

The Democrat establishment wants him gone. The same as the Republican establishment wants Trump gone. They don’t want change or relatability. They want power and their agenda. It isn’t about us. It never was.

Comey Admitted Under Oath That Obstruction To FBI Probe ‘Never Happened’

While the story grew and grew from, “I hope you can …” into “I’ll kill your whole family if you don’t,” everyone forgot to check what Comey has actually said. While The Times went with two anonymous sources, let’s do the old-fashioned thing and just go right to the primary source — the former director himself.

Comey, testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee on May 3, said — under oath — that he’s never been pressured to close an investigation for political purposes.

“Not in my experience. Because it would be a big deal to tell the FBI to stop doing something like that — without an appropriate purpose.”

“I mean where oftentimes they give us opinions that ‘We don’t see a case there and so you ought to stop investing resources in it.’ But I’m talking about a situation where we were told to stop something for a political reason.”

“That would be a very big deal. It’s not happened in my experience,” Comey told the senators.

The former FBI director has let Trump twist in the wind over the purported memo. But Comey is expected to testify again before Congress as early as next week, and a lawmaker there will almost certainly ask about this contradictory conundrum.

As has been stated before: either Comey thought Trump was obstructing justice before and failed to report it to anyone – which will put Comey in real hot water – or he really believes Trump didn’t do anything more than spark an awkward conversation. However, under oath, he said he had never been pressured to end an investigation. Sounds to me like this either a non-story or Comey is in trouble.

James Comey Could Now Be Facing Criminal Charges

Consjournal

Under the law, Comey is required to immediately inform the Department of Justice of any attempt to obstruct justice by any person, even the President of the United States. Failure to do so would result in criminal charges against Comey. (18 USC 4 and 28 USC 1361) He would also, upon sufficient proof, lose his license to practice law.

So, if Comey believed Trump attempted to obstruct justice, did he comply with the law by reporting it to the DOJ? If not, it calls into question whether the events occurred as the Times reported it…

…by writing a memo, Comey has put himself in a box.  If he now accuses the President of obstruction, he places himself in legal jeopardy for failing to promptly and properly report it.  If he says it was merely an uncomfortable conversation, he clears the president of wrongdoing and sullies his own image as a guy who attempted to smear the man who fired him.”

This is what I was saying yesterday. This apparently happened in February, and the memo was apparently written in February. If Comey believed Trump was trying to obstruct and had made an illegal demand, it should have been reported immediately to the DOJ… not to the New York Times after he was fired in May, three months later. Which is why this whole memo stinks of revenge and not much else. He had to know the facts presented in the last paragraph of the quoted text above.

Trump: I have ‘absolute right’ to share facts with Russia

Wow, so there you go. Just a small selection of articles for you to read through, which should leave you sufficiently scratching your head!

But the question remains… did he?

It sounds to me like there may have been some information that was at least bordering of classified that passed over to the Russians. It does sound like nothing super critical was given to them. Somewhere between “he leaked classified info” and “it didn’t happen” there is truth.

Personally, I think Trump is trying to create some kind of relationship that isn’t bordering on cold war status with the Russians, and for whatever reason the left is just itching to get into a fight with Russia. Obviously, Trump has to mind his mouth. But it doesn’t seem to me that anything he could have said in that meetings was deeply damaging or would cause any real issue in the fight against terror or the relations between the US and Russia.

It isn’t the first time classified info was leaked, because we know Hillary, Obama, and Biden have all been guilty of it. But this is Trump, so it is obviously far worse. And if the people who were trying to bait me on Twitter last night are any indication, we should be hearing about this until the day we all die.

The two leaders spoke by phone for the first time since U.S. relations with Russian were strained by the U.S. attack on a Syrian airfield. They two leaders set the foundation for what could be their first face-to-face meeting in July.Statements from both the White House and the Kremlin suggested the two leaders had a productive conversation that included North Korea and fighting Islamist militants throughout the Middle East.

“The conversation was a very good one, and included the discussion of safe, or de-escalation, zones to achieve lasting peace for humanitarian and many other reasons,” a White House statement said.

How Much Is Trump Golfing? A LOT.

Gold addiction must be a prerequisite for president.

Jeff J Mitchell/Getty Images

As The Daily Wire has previously noted, Trump’s constant golfing after stating on the campaign trail that he wouldn’t play much golf as president certainly warrants criticism, especially since he criticized Obama for his constant golfing. But there is a key difference between Trump and Obama’s golfing habits: Obama’s were easily more tone-deaf, as “Obama played golf instead of putting in the time and effort to solve the world’s crises.”

One of the more notable instances of this tone deafness was when Obama golfed shortly after he spoke about the video showing ISIS slicing off the head of James Foley. Obama later conceded that his timing was a mistake.

Trump, on the other hand, is at least willing to lead on the world stage in a way that Obama repeatedly refused to do. Thus his golfing breaks feels less like a retreat than his predecessor’s often did. That’s not to excuse Trump’s golfing after his campaign trail rhetoric, but, thus far at least, the optics haven’t damaged him as they eventually damaged Obama.
